Our story
Founded to help those who are less fortunate get what they need to stand on their own.
Aid to Educate Inc. was founded on a simple conviction: that circumstance should not determine a person's future. This is where that conviction came from — and where it is going.
Where it began
Aid to Educate Inc. was founded to help those who are less fortunate get the supplies and obtain the knowledge needed to become more self-dependent. From the beginning, the mission was broad by design: Aid to Educate does not target a specific age group. It aims to help people of all ages — because the need for education, resources, and opportunity does not stop at any particular birthday.
The founding belief was straightforward: whilst providing people with supplies and necessities, we would also help educate them on various matters that would increase their knowledge, so they would be able to fend for themselves.
"Supplies without knowledge is charity. Knowledge without supplies is theory. The two together are transformation."
That belief has shaped every program we have built since.
The ambassador program
In order to get youth more involved, Aid to Educate Inc. created the ambassador program. It gives 15 people between the ages of 15 and 24 the opportunity to travel with the organization on either its international or local expeditions — aimed at helping those in different geographical locations.
Who can apply
Young people between the ages of 15 and 24 who want to be part of the work firsthand.
What ambassadors do
Help with the distribution of supplies, food, and other necessities in communities that need them.
What is covered
Travel expenses and living costs are taken care of for ambassadors whilst on expedition.
How selection works
Ambassadors are chosen through an interview process. A presentation on the organization's purpose and work precedes each round of interviews.
Those who are not selected for the ambassador program are encouraged to apply to volunteer.
Volunteers
At times, Aid to Educate Inc. will have volunteering opportunities for those who want to be involved in the organization's works and mission to help ease the lives of others. The volunteering program allows the organization to have a greater influence and outreach.
Volunteers help in activities such as the organization and packing of food, supplies, stationeries, and books. Each volunteer is chosen at the discretion of the board members.
Apply to volunteer"Volunteering with Aid to Educate is unpaid. What you give is time and effort. What you get back is the knowledge that it went somewhere real."
Disaster relief
Aid to Educate Inc. aims to provide disaster relief to communities and areas that are unable to provide the necessities needed when stricken with disaster. Aid comes in the form of food and water, as well as other services — from clearing debris to repairing damaged homes — thoughtfully planned to fit each area's unique situation.
Aid to Educate intends to provide disaster relief to all areas in need of it, regardless of geographical location.
How we are funded
The organization's income is acquired through public donation, fundraising, grants, personal resources, and sponsorships. With the discretion of the board members, income obtained is used towards the corporation's expenses — including ambassador boarding, advertising, equipment purchases, books, and stationeries.
Every dollar raised is a dollar with a purpose. We account for it, and we report on it.
How we document the work
Aid to Educate Inc. uses multimedia platforms to bring more awareness to the organization. This includes social media accounts that broadcast activities and works, as well as photography and videography to document the organization's progress and efforts.
